Do I need to register in advance for specific workshops/talks on Saturday?

No, you can attend any or all of them.  The Saturday author talks and workshops are free — come for the whole day or any part of it. Seating is first-come, first served. Some sessions may fill up faster than others, so if there is a certain speaker you don’t want to miss, be sure to go early.

How will I know where the authors are?

All the Saturday daytime programs will be at St. Peters Episcopal Church campus.  A detailed program will be available at Information desk on the campus. Information will also be on posters displayed at the festival site.

How do you choose the featured authors for the festival?

The Festival seeks noted authors whose books will help balance the offerings at the festival. We look for authors of novels, mystery, history, thrillers, poetry, romance, science fiction, children’s literature, short stories — you name it!

We issue a call to authors to submit new books via our website, our writers’ organizations e-mail list and newspaper announcements. We prefer authors who have (or will have) a new book out since the date of the last festival.

Are all genres of books accepted?

All genres are considered; selection is based on interest of the community and putting together a balanced program of authors, workshops and readings. We require that each featured author offer a talk or participate in a panel or workshop on Saturday. Children’s book authors also are asked to participate in the Authors-in-Schools day.

Are out-of-state authors accepted?

Lodging is only provided for out-of-area authors at our signature hotel.  AIBF does not cover airfare or other travel expenses.  Out-of-area is any author residing over fifty miles from Amelia Island.

Are other authors allowed to display their books?

Yes.  We do have vendor tables available.  Contact AIBF at info@bookisland.org for more information.
